Probation Period Reminders
In the first weeks after joining, we still keep the end date of the probation period in mind. Over time, however, it fades from memory and only comes to mind again once the probation period has already ended. This is just as true for the employee as for their manager — and often even for HR administration. Yet it's an important date for everyone involved. In fact, the individual stages of the probation period also matter for onboarding, feedback, and shaping the future of the contract. It's worth remembering — and reminding.
With the CHEQ notifications feature, no one ever forgets the end of a new colleague's probation period again. In the system, you can set a message to go out 30-10-5 days before the probation period ends, reminding the employee that it is about to expire. You can also attach further processes to the notification using buttons — for example, you can ask for feedback on how they feel at their workplace, whether they received enough support during onboarding, or whether they need more help settling in.
Why is it good for the company?
- When both management and HR are aware of when employees' probation periods end, you can avoid unpleasant legal disputes that might arise, for example, during a dismissal.
- We may need to keep hundreds of things in mind every day, and each new piece of information can push an older one out. When managers and HR don't have to keep track of probation end dates, they free up space for new information without a single important fact or date being forgotten.
- You can regularly ask employees for feedback during the probation period. On one hand, this boosts their engagement; on the other, it opens up the opportunity to improve your onboarding process.
Why is it good for the employee?
- Starting somewhere new always comes with lots of new information to learn. By not having to keep the probation end date in their head, they can focus better on memorizing the other important details.
- They know when to expect a manager's evaluation and feedback. So they won't be alarmed when their manager invites them to a one-on-one conversation.
- We often forget that probation is a two-way street. With CHEQ, not only can the manager give feedback — the employee can also initiate it towards their manager.
- They can look up the notification on their own phone at any time.
