Health Check app for employees’ mental wellbeing

Workplace mental health is becoming an ever-greater challenge for companies, because while it fundamentally determines an organisation's performance, Generation Z — present with ever-greater weight on the labour market — already turns to companies with serious expectations in this area too. Stress is an everyday phenomenon for two thirds of Hungarian workers, and it often does not subside even on rest days; in addition, worldwide roughly 50% of employees struggle with rapidly spreading burnout, which can also cause health symptoms in a broader sense. Recognising the social significance of the problem, we joined forces with two Hungarian companies to create a digital solution called Health Check ☑️, which comprehensively examines employees' mental and physical condition in order to provide valuable feedback to workers and companies alike.

In the European Union, on average EUR 136 billion, and in Hungary roughly HUF 440 billion in losses are generated each year due to unmanaged or inadequately managed workplace stress, which is responsible for about 50–60% of lost working days. Meanwhile, employees increasingly feel the problem to be significant, and moreover they mostly struggle with it on their own: 4 out of 10 workers believe that the psychosocial risks associated with heightened stress cannot be effectively remedied within their organisation. The Health Check ☑️ application provides an innovative answer to this challenge; we have integrated it into the CHEQ system together with our professional partners, Pro Health Consulting Group and Minder, which specialises in workplace psychology.
„Today it is no longer a question how significantly employees' mental state supports or, conversely, hinders companies' everyday operations, the quality of task performance, or productivity specifically. In the digital world, companies must be given tools that help them recognise and manage problems related to their employees' mental health more effectively” – said Zsófia Logemann-Molnár, founding specialist psychologist of MINDER. The application creates a „heat map” of the organisation based on anonymous feedback, so that company leaders and HR professionals can quickly identify where intervention is needed. Based on the results, workplace processes and targeted health-preservation programmes can also be redesigned – and these contribute, as a direct and concrete business advantage, to increasing employee engagement and to defeating turnover as well.

Mental health is a mutual interest at every workplace
Hungarian workers, incidentally, suffer most from excessive workload (43%), a lack of respect and fairness (32%), and overly high expectations (26%), and 46% of them think they already have a physical health problem triggered by the resulting stress. Health Check ☑️ takes all of these factors into account and gives the employee feedback about their own psychological state, thereby supporting conscious stress management and self-awareness development. Many people, for example, struggle with the fact that although they feel something is wrong, they still cannot identify the causes and dig to the bottom of things; our digital solution helps with recognition, and even with preventing more serious consequences.
“Within the CHEQ system, the assessment of mental and physical health is now available digitally, instantly and in a data-driven way. This not only supports employees' wellbeing but also directly contributes to companies' efficiency and long-term competitiveness. For modern companies, digitalisation is no longer an option but a strategic tool in developing human resources.” - highlighted Ákos Deliága, our founder and CEO.
Health Check ☑️ can also become a key player in the workplaces of the future, because the younger generations are carving out an ever-larger slice of the labour market, and their needs differ markedly from those of their older colleagues, who are only now learning how they can maintain their health. Younger employees look for companies where, alongside professional challenges, a strong emphasis is placed on work-life balance, on supporting mental and physical health, and on creativity and innovation – that is, they place much higher expectations on their workplace wellbeing than any previous generation, but if they feel that attention is paid to them and their feedback, they repay it.
„Nor should we forget that the applicable legislation in our country too contains provisions on mental health, according to which employers have a duty to regularly assess psychosocial risks (conflicts, work organisation, stress, etc.) and, where necessary, reduce them. The solution effectively supports companies in legal compliance, and moreover they can kill several birds with one stone, since they can at the same time increase employee commitment and loyalty. The experience so far has been absolutely positive: with the introduction of Health Check ☑️ it is easier to plan genuinely effective health programmes, and with the use of CHEQ the quality of internal communication has also measurably improved” – detailed Dr. Zsófia Horváth, lead partner at Pro Health Consulting Group.
