250 workers, 1 football tipping game, 100% sign-up among new joiners – all without email

Most of JOST Hungária’s roughly 300-strong team in Veszprém works on the shop floor without an email address. Through the channel they built with CHEQ nearly three years ago, they now reach colleagues every day – without the shift-leader chain or a monthly newsletter.

„JOST connects – as our slogan says. And it is true of CHEQ as well: you help us connect with one another.”

A family day for 300 – without paper or spreadsheets

Situation
Several hundred colleagues had to be registered for the family day: who brings whom, how many people are coming, what the family members need. This used to run on paper and in an Excel sheet that only one person could edit at a time.
CHEQ-Lösung
Registration runs in CHEQ’s survey module. The team evaluated other survey tools as well, but found in CHEQ what made totalling the registrants and their needs the simplest – answers export to Excel in one click, where they are easy to work with formulas.
Wirkung
Building a polished survey takes about 15 minutes, and even a complex one takes at most half an hour to an hour including the totals – by HR’s estimate, the same used to take several people a whole morning.

JOST 30 – photos from Brazil

Situation
The company wanted to involve the group’s colleagues abroad – including in Brazil – in its 30-year anniversary campaign, people who had neither a CHEQ account nor an email address on file with HR in Veszprém.
CHEQ-Lösung
It was enough to send the survey built in CHEQ as a link to one local colleague per site, who forwarded it to their team – it could be filled in without an app or an email address, and the answers arrived in the same CHEQ interface.
Wirkung
Colleagues abroad shared photos of their everyday lives – and since then they too can send feedback to Veszprém through CHEQ. “JOST connects” – the anniversary campaign proved it literally.

The bus timetable in every pocket

Situation
The company bus timetable and other internal documents used to be reliably available in exactly one place: by knocking on HR’s door.
CHEQ-Lösung
Internal documents – the bus timetable among them – are available in CHEQ, where everyone looks them up for themselves. New joiners learn on their first day how much they will find there.
Wirkung
Fewer knocks on HR’s door, better-informed colleagues – and, as the HR Business Partner puts it, the system also teaches employees a little self-reliance.

Plant news, up to date

Situation
Developments used to be announced in the monthly newsletter – an area closure or a new machine installation often reached the shifts only as hearsay.
CHEQ-Lösung
Announcements now arrive directly on colleagues’ phones: if an area is closed for a door replacement, or a new machine is being installed, everyone knows the same day.
Wirkung
The monthly rhythm became daily: employees are up to date on what is happening in the plant – something that did not exist before.
„We don’t just get the module. We are not left on our own: you are always there for us, and through that we are part of a genuinely supportive community.”
Maurerné Kovács Hajnalka · HR Business Partner, JOST Hungária

Ausgangslage

Of JOST Hungária’s 300–320 employees, around 250 work on the shop floor – most of them men over 50, without a company email address. If management wanted to reach someone, two routes remained: in person, or through the shift leader.

Top-down communication practically did not exist: management emailed the shift leaders, who – on top of the day’s problems – either passed the news on or did not. What reliably arrived was the notice board and the monthly newsletter, which was how people learned what was being developed in the plant.

Event sign-ups ran on paper and in a shared Excel sheet that only one person could edit at a time. Totalling up a family day or a Christmas dinner – who brings whom, who needs what – consumed countless working hours.

A colleague already knew CHEQ from a previous employer, where it had proven itself as a communication channel – that is how the choice was made. The question was how a sceptical blue-collar workforce averaging 45 years would react to “having to download an app”.

Reach before and after CHEQ. Before: management emailed the shift leader, who either passed it on or did not; the reliable channels were the notice board and the monthly newsletter. Today: the CHEQ app, Viber and the QR code on the notice board reach every blue-collar worker directly – an estimated 55–60% of the total headcount are active users.

Einführung und Akzeptanz

The rollout started nearly three years ago and did meet resistance at first: some of the older colleagues did not want to install an app, and in a few areas the refusal was collective. The breakthrough came not from a mandatory memo, but from a game.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup tipping game drew in even those who had resisted the loudest: football interested them too, so they downloaded the app and played through the tournament. Where there is an interesting occasion, even the sceptics are willing to join – and whoever has joined once also receives the official announcements from then on.

At JOST there is more than one way in: those who do not want to install an app use CHEQ on Viber, and anyone can scan the QR code posted on the notice board with their phone – the survey opens right away. Nobody misses a sign-up just because they do not want to download an application.

Today CHEQ is part of the onboarding day: new colleagues receive a four-page guide, and they are added to the system on day one, when they sign their contract. Practically 100% of new joiners register, and they arrive knowing that this is part of the company culture.

Active users now make up 55–60% of the total headcount – by HR’s estimate. Those who do not use it typically do not take part in other forms of company life either: they just come in to work. Those who are receptive, however, now have a direct channel to the company’s everyday life for the first time.

Erkenntnisse

  1. It takes an occasion that brings in the sceptics too. At JOST the football tipping game achieved what a mandatory memo never would have – joining was an experience, not admin.

  2. Several ways in, one channel. App, Viber and the QR code on the notice board: everyone joins by whichever route suits them, yet HR sees everything on one interface.

  3. Part of the culture from day one. When CHEQ is part of the onboarding day and everyone is added as they sign their contract, registration is not a campaign – it is the default.

    World Cup Tipping Game 2026

We tied the CHEQ rollout to a positive event that moved everyone: the 2026 FIFA World Cup prediction game. Over the tournament's five weeks, colleagues tipped all 104 matches, picked a World Cup winner up front, and leaderboards sparked competition across shifts and sites. People got to know the app through play — by the time the first official announcement arrived, the channel was already alive.
